Restoration – Get the look you want

Travertine is a natural stone that is commonly used as a building material in both indoor and outdoor settings. It is a type of limestone that forms around mineral springs, and its unique appearance is characterized by its pitted surface and varied coloration. Travertine comes in a range of hues, including beige, ivory, gold, and walnut, and it can be honed, polished, or tumbled to achieve different finishes. It is a popular choice for flooring, walls, countertops, and even outdoor pool decks and patios. Travertine is a durable material that can withstand heavy foot traffic, making it an excellent choice for high-traffic areas. It also has a timeless beauty that can add elegance and sophistication to any space. However, travertine requires regular maintenance to keep it looking its best, including cleaning, sealing, and polishing to prevent staining and damage. Beyond Clean Tile’s travertine restoration and cleaning process will give you the look you have been craving.

Honing, Polishing, and Refinishing travertine honed finish

During our travertine restoration process we use diamond abrasives to hone or sand the travertine surface which eliminates surface imperfections such as dull spots, scratches, etching and other wear and tear. Beyond Clean Tile is well versed in the types of finishes possible, as well as experienced in the techniques required to achieve them. The most common finishes we provide during our travertine restoration process are a high gloss polish, a honed (soft matte) finish or something in between also known as a satin finish. When travertine is polished to a high gloss finish it gives a very elegant, formal, and upscale feel. Honed travertine on the other hand has a warm, inviting, and natural look and feel. With our travertine restoration process you can customize the look of your travertine floors, countertops, or shower walls. Our technicians are very knowledgeable and discuss with our customers the different types of finishes possible for their travertine and the maintenance that is involved with each so that each customer can choose the type of finish they will love the look of but also one that fits their lifestyle.

travertine polishing Whether you want a floor that is flush with its grout lines for easier cleaning or need to remedy uneven tiles that can be trip hazards and unattractive, Beyond Clean Tile can take care of that for you. Using state-of-the art diamond grinding technology, we can remove excess stone to create a flat, level surface. We grind the floor completely flat so the tile is even with the grout lines. This process uses aggressive abrasives and a highly skilled technician so the floor does not become wavy. When the lippage (unevenness of the laid tiles) is removed this removes tripping hazards and because the grout lines are flush it makes the floor easier to maintain. This can also give the floor the look of being all one piece of stone as long as the grout color matches the stone. Once the uneven tiles are leveled (this is called lippage removal), the travertine is honed and polished to your desired finish.

Why is Beyond Clean Tile’s refinishing processes superior to other polishing systems?

1. Our skilled technicians use resin diamonds to achieve the highest quality finish. Resin diamonds provide a better shine and a finish that will last longer than those refinished by diamond impregnated pads often used by others in the industry.

2. Our technicians are trained to use many different types of diamond and abrasives. This allows them to pick and use the best tools that will give you the highest quality of finish.

3. Our stone technicians work with natural stone daily and are well versed in stone identification and knowing the characteristics that make each stone unique. This allows them to perfect the art of stone restoration.

4. Our technicians can walk you though our maintenance best practices so you can keep your travertine looking their best even after we leave.

Deep Cleaning Soiled Travertine

Cleaning travertine flooring can be a real challenge for a homeowner or janitorial company that has never cleaned it before. Travertine surfaces can become dirty and grimy with use, unfilled travertine with its naturally varying surface texture and inherent holes can be particularly challenging once dirt has had time to accumulate in the hollows and low points. Not to worry though, because Beyond Clean Tile can remove deeply imbedded soiling, strip away years of buildup of unsightly topical treatments, remove soap film in showers, get rid of soot on fireplaces, and resolve a host of other travertine cleaning problems with our state-of-the-art truckmount systems and advanced processes.

Our cleaning process is called hot water extraction. Our equipment heats water up to 220 degrees and pressurizes it so it can flush out contaminates deep within the pours of the stone and grout lines, leaving your travertine and grout clean and sanitized. With more heat throughout the job we are able to achieve a deeper and more consistent clean throughout the job. We also detail around the edges by hand to make sure all the details are taken care of. This process will only clean the floor and will not address damaged areas such as scratches, traffic pattern wear or etch marks. To remove the damage the floor must be refinished. Our restoration technicians pay extra attention to detail so your home feels and smells like new. When we are done with our travertine deep cleaning you will understand why we have the best reviews in Montgomery County!

Filling Holes

Travertine in its original state has naturally occurring holes throughout. Part of travertine’s unique appeal is that it is available in two distinct forms — filled and unfilled. In “filled” travertine, a color-matched material is used at the factory to fill the holes, giving the stone a smooth finish. In “unfilled” travertine the natural holes remain exposed for a rustic, earthy finish. Both filled and unfilled travertine are beautiful in their own right, and both offer their own particular look and feel.

If you have unfilled travertine, or the holes in your filled travertine have become exposed, and you want the holes to be filled, we can perform this service for you. Our travertine hole filling process is different than other companies as we use the same filler is same as used at quarries so it is a perfect match.

Sealing Travertine & Color Enhancing for Natural Stone

Some natural stone types are more porous than others, and the more porous a natural stone is, the more susceptible it is to staining. Your travertine will be easier to keep clean with periodic professional deep cleaning services, using non-acidic, highly-effective cleaning solutions. Once your travertine is cleaned and restored, we may recommend you have us seal it to enhance its stain resistance. We say, “may” because not all stone needs to be sealed. Highly polished stone may not even take an impregnating sealer. But, if sealing is recommended, know that sealing represents an inexpensive, preventative measure against stain damage, because it buys you time to wipe up spills before they become stains. Travertine is characterized by its neutral earth tone colors. For certain types of travertine, our skilled restoration technicians can apply an enhancing sealer to intensify the color and enrich its natural beauty.

Travertine Cleaning and Polishing Reviews

We called Beyond Clean to get our travertine floors cleaned, polished and have etched areas treated. Jim, co-owner, came to the house to assess the floor condition. He explained the options & process & estimated cost based on our decision. We set a date. Prior to the date, we received emails to reconfirm the date; provide details of the process; names of the technicians & time they would arrive. All worked perfectly to plan. Nick & Randy did an outstanding job. Jim came to the house at the end of the process to answer a few follow-up questions & assess the end result. We could not ask for better professionalism, quality of work, responsiveness & timeliness. We highly recommend them! Thank you Beyond Clean team. We will definitely see you again.
Beyond Clean Tile did an outstanding job of cleaning and polishing our travertine floors, repairing cracks in travertine floors, color-sealing grout, and repairing grout on the pool deck. They do top-quality work, and are very professional. Excellent value and service. We will use Beyond Clean Tile again in the future and highly recommend them!
Excellent professional service today on our travertine floors. Careful with moving furniture and our bird cage. Guys wore shoe covers, were courteous. Process was cleaning the tiles with a machine with hot steam that gets the dirt out of the grout lines ( great); filled some holes with color- matched epoxy and buffed the floors. I would definitely recommend them.
