A homeowner in Montgomery contacted us to find out whether we could restore the marble vanity top in her bathroom. She had cleaned the top with vinegar and water, leaving the finish with etch damage. The homeowner found out the hard way that vinegar contains acid, which chemically reacts with the calcium in natural stone and therefore should never be used to clean marble. In addition, residue from cosmetics gave the top an overall dirty appearance.
Our Marble Refinishing Process
First, we protected the surfaces surrounding our work area. Then, we honed the marble, removing a very thin upper layer of the stone and virtually erasing the damage. Finally, we polished the marble to a beautiful, reflective finish.
The homeowner was amazed at the results we were able to achieve. We also showed her the proper way to care for marble and gave her tips to avoid future damage.
