Granite polishing, restoration, and cleaning can restore countertops like new!

Granite, one of the world’s hardest materials, is a stone of choice for kitchen countertops, not only because it is gorgeous, but because it is resistant to most acids, very durable, and easy to maintain. Even so, granite is not impervious to damage. If your granite is dirty or dull-looking, scratched, etched, cracked, chipped or otherwise damaged, we can make it look brand new again! Much harder than marble, granite is a rugged and resilient stone that requires specialized knowledge and equipment to restore. We understand granite’s unyielding personality and have the right tools and techniques to get it looking its absolute best once more. From minor services like having your granite floors or granite countertops polished to major services like a complete granite floor or granite countertop repair and restoration, our professional technicians can perform these services for you.

Granite Reconditioning

This service is where we clean, polish and seal the granite countertops to bring back the original luster they had when they were new. The most common reason for this service is because your granite countertops have hard water build up around the sink, which dulls the shine of the granite.  We begin this process by cleaning and preparing the surface followed by a deep cleansing and polishing. We can then seal the granite to ensure it stays beautiful for a long time. This sealer soaks into the pores of the stone and acts as a repellent, providing protection against future staining.  You can see more description on each of these steps below, view our granite conditioning video or you can also read more about a recent granite reconditioning service we did in Montgomery, Texas.

Countertop Deep Cleaning

Natural stone cleaning processes vary based on the surface condition and type of dirt, oil or other contaminant being removed. Granite is easier to keep clean with periodic professional deep cleaning services that utilize non-acidic, highly-effective cleaning solutions. We can assist you in not only cleaning your granite surfaces, but in keeping your granite properly polished, maintained, and free of scratches to help make regular cleaning and care of your stone easier.

Hard water builds up around sinks and sink faucets. This can become a hard white build up that actually sits on top of the stone or it can turn the stone hazy and dull looking when it is deep in the pores of the stone. Hard water deposits can cause a haze or cloudiness on the surface of natural stone. Sometimes, if the buildup is not too severe, it can be safely removed using pH-neutral, stone-safe cleaner. If not, we can restore the finish. We begin this process by cleaning and reconditioning the granite countertop so that all the hard water build up and any other soaps and grime are removed from the surface.

Granite Polishing

An uneven finish, dull spots or etches can diminish the elegant appearance of your granite. We can polish your granite using granite-specific equipment and supplies to restore the finish to its original beauty. Our expert granite polishing services can achieve a gorgeous, glass-like polish. If you have hard water deposits, we follow up our deep cleaning process by polishing the granite and bringing back its shine to like new.

Impregnating / Sealing Granite Surfaces

Some natural stone types are more porous than others, and the more porous a natural stone is, the more susceptible it is to staining. Your granite will be easier to keep clean with periodic professional deep cleaning services, using non-acidic, highly-effective cleaning solutions. Once your granite is cleaned and restored, we may recommend you have us seal it to enhance its stain resistance. We say, “may” because not all stone needs to be sealed. Highly polished stone may not even take an impregnating sealer. But, if sealing is recommended, know that sealing represents an inexpensive, preventative measure against stain damage, because it buys you time to wipe up spills before they become stains.

If you have your countertops serviced for hard water stains we will follow up your deep cleaning and polishing with sealing. We can then teach you how to stay on top of the hard water issue so it doesn’t get to the point of needing professional services again.

Countertop Repair

Do you have chipped granite countertops? What about broken granite tiles? Before you replace your granite, consider having us provide expert granite repair services. We can fill holes in granite, and fix granite cracks and chips, blending the repair site with the surrounding area, and conclude by honing and polishing your granite countertop or other granite surface to create a uniform finish. There are a number of different types of granite repairs that we can do.

Granite Seam Repair

One of the types of granite repairs we handle are seam repairs. The common request for seam repairs are due to the two pieces of granite not being flush or flat at the seam where they meet. Beyond Clean Tile can grind this area flat so you don’t feel the seam as much. We grind the two granite pieces completely flat using diamond abrasives. This takes a skilled technician to not only feather the area out so it does not become wavy but also to bring back the shine to match. When the seams of the countertop are completely flat this gives the counters a high end look and feel. This also makes cleaning countertops easier because soap and crumbs don’t get stuck in the low part of the seam. The other common request for seam repairs is due to the original glue used to fill the seam has cracked and is coming out. Often times countertop seams will crack and fail leaving a void between the two granite pieces. We can cut out and replace the failing glues with new color matched glues.  You can read more about a granite countertop seam repair we did in the Woodlands.

 Repairing Broken Granite

Another type of granite repair we do is when a piece breaks off your countertop. We repair this by using structural grade epoxy to bond the two pieces back together, then we fill any voids with color matched glues. Once the glues are dried, we grind the two pieces completely flat using diamond abrasives and then we polish the area back to blend with the rest of the countertop. This can save you from having to replace the countertops and save thousands of dollars. You can read more about a recent broken granite countertop repair we did in the Woodlands.

Granite In Front of Sink Cracks

We often find that customers have the small section of granite in front of the sink crack. This is another repair we can help with. The railing cracks because during fabrication rebar is epoxied to the bottom side of this railing for added support during transportation and install. If the caulking around the sink fails and the epoxy covering the rebar fails the rebar will begin to rust. This causes oxide jacking or rust burst which is where the rebar expands and causes the granite to crack. We fix this by removing the rebar where possible then using the proper epoxies and diamond abrasives to glue the pieces back together and grind them flat. We will then blend the area in with the rest of the countertop and save you from needing to replace the entire granite slab.

Granite Cleaning and Polishing FAQ's

No. Sealing granite will not change the look of the stone. Sealing granite will make water and oils bead up on the surface making your granite easier to clean and it will help resist staining. To make your granite shiny more than likely you need to have your granite professionally cleaned and polished, we can provide this service for you.

Once granite is sealed water will bead up on the surface. If it is not sealed water will penetrate the granite and leave behind unsightly white mineral deposits. If these mineral deposits work their way deep within the stone, a more expensive honing (sanding) process will be needed to remove them.

We can fill holes in granite, and fix granite cracks and chips, blending the repair site with the surrounding area, and conclude by honing and polishing your granite floor, countertop or other granite surface to create a uniform finish. We can also repair granite pieces that have broken off.

Countertop Cleaning and Polishing Reviews

My 18 year old black granite countertops were white and cloudy by the sink. Jonathan did such an amazing job on them that they look brand new. On time, professional and good value.
Justin, from Beyond Clean Tile, did a terrific job. My granite countertops and floor tile were over 25 years and looking a little tired at best. He cleaned, polished and sealed them. The original countertop seams were not good, one of them was not even level. It was a tough job but he made them look great. My only complaint was why did I not call them years ago, but you can be sure I will be seeing them again.
The team from Beyond Clean Tile arrived on time, were very professional, and capable. They restored my 14-year old, hazy, granite kitchen counters to a new, shiny finish. I'm very happy with their work and would recommended them highly to others who need their natural stone surfaces restored to perfection.
